It is quite funny how much my view of Date A Live has changed since my first impressions of it; Date A Live had it's slow beginnings, making me very skeptical of the enjoyment I would take from this series. However, when we were introduced to the idea of wooing rogue sprites to keep them from causing anymore damage done to a city or even people -- kind of like the anime, The World God Only Knows -- that is was what pretty much sold this series for me.
Now, as of episode 7, we are introduced to the first truly evil spirit -- since both Tohka and Yoshino were more or less misunderstood -- Kurumi; who I like to call "man eater", simple because that is what the episode is alluding to during most of her screen time. An example being, the licking of her lips and the blood of her victims in the alleyway.
As far as we know, Kurumi feed on male humans -- probably for energy, but maybe just for pleasure -- and she has this golden clock eye that is most likely tied to why she has to eat men; and this is why I find her the more interesting of characters being brought in, after the other two sprites -- one being the cheerful childish one, Tohka, and the other being a shy, overly sensitive one with a split personality, Yoshino.
But what makes Kurumi so interesting? I guess it is that notion of mystery she plays so well with and the fact that the other newly introduced character of this episode, Takamiya Mana -- Shidou's biological sister -- seems to have some connection with her, despite being an ace for the AST (Anti-Sprite Team). Kurumi is also the first sprite to actively pursue Shidou, compared to the other two sprites who initially avoided or were very suspicious of him.
Lets just say I'm eager to see where Kurumi takes this harem-esque story. Maybe it will just ended up being pulled back into the same loop that most harems take, or it could be a worthwhile story, with those elements of a harem. Regardless, I'm still interested in the journey and why Kurumi is interesting in Shidou so much -- beside the fact that he is the male center to this harem lollipop.
Let me also mention the most important part of Kurumi being, her oddly sexy voice, that makes her stand out a bit more from the higher pitched "cuter" voiced females. I might just be rationalizing things or maybe I'm just being manipulated by the sexy saxes in the background, everything time she speaks.
