In a world full of fanservice and many variation of slapstick humor, there is one thing that unites these kinds of anime together. That one thing being the several envious stares of the well developed upper half of the female body, better known as the breasts.
Now, as an ass man you might think I don't really have a dog in this race, but I've always found it strange that the one universal joke toward women -- mind you, in an ocean of deprecating humor toward males -- is something about body image. Of course with it being a joke, I'm not going to go on full out tirade on anime that do these things, I just find it odd that the focus is so heavily on breast size.
With that focus on a female's bouncier bits, we do get an easy platform for almost forced character showcasing, for women with a lack of tits. This is more evident with the lolita character, where most of them are fiery and that fire burns hotter if you mention anything that reminds them of their chest size. And that is main reason I don't like them as a character in general, but some surprise me and doesn't follow the troupe exclusively.
However, that main thing that I'm opposed with -- as far as this kind of humor goes -- is that you could consider this an easy ticket for both a quick laugh, and a justification for getting into a quick spat -- resulting in a slight pain on or around your face. Like a chain reaction that never fails, and the one who has to endure these jabs -- as far as joke wise, not the actual physical pain of getting hit -- are the women who aren't as well-endowed.
But fear not my flat chested friends, looking at the big picture, you get the last laugh -- if that's worth something to you. Whether you are big, small, or somewhere in-between chested, we will all have something we aren't as confident in. So don't be afraid to show of those puppies. But only in envy? Sure...
