A new iteration in the White Album series, White Album 2, has no relation story wise to the first one. Even though it isn't related, and I didn't attempt to re-watching the previous season, I did notice the song being played, that being "White Album", was in the previous season. So you can technologically say, this one is set ten years after the first, but there isn't really much connecting it besides the song.
So even with those facts, we have a very similar structure of the main characters involved in what is now set in high school rather than college. We only get introduced to Haruki and Setsuna, who are a decent set of characters. Setsuna might be playing a sweet girl with a hidden personality, based on Haruki observation and I hope this is true. And Haruki is preachy at times, but is mostly helpful. They aren't all too original, if you compared them to many other characters, but I'm going to ease on my criticism for later in the series.
However, with not that much to grab on in the start, besides "maybes" and "I hopes", I was only mildly amused. The thing that did perk me up was the song sung by Setsuna as nostalgia started to settle in. I'm going to see what else there is in the possibly upcoming love triangle, but right now I can only say meh.
