I'm not sure why the last episode of the Corpse Party OVA had such a large gap in-between the other three, as far as subbing goes, but I finally watched the finale to it. So this will be a small update to my previous impressions about Corpse Party: Tortured Souls.

Most of what I wrote before still stands, but with this episode wrapping up the way it did, I can say my opinions are a bit more positive. My biggest complain is still sticks out very clearly, especially from the way it ends, but I'll get back to that. The backstory that started the curse of Heavenly Host Elementary School, was enough for me to be a slightly more lax on the lack of interesting characters.

It was basically one big domino effect of misfortune, that toppled over most things that touched it. Of course, the curse being lifted by the students was fairly easy to predicted, but the end itself was a bit of surprise -- however remembering that the genre is horror, and not everything will end like a fairytale, made the scene more of a "well that happened".

Since Satoshi gave that warning about not knowing what would happen if one of them uses the wrong piece of the charm, you could consider that as foreshadowing for him; and only a few seconds later, after their narrow escape, it is reveal that the only parts to escape from Heavenly Host for Satoshi was his bloody, severed arms. It was a nice touch to finish off the anime, but me not caring whether a characters lives or dies is a big irk for me.

Regardless, for a four episode OVA, I can say I enjoyed it. However, if the anime focused on some characterization, it may have been a lot more enjoyable and horrifying.
