As of late I've been focusing a lot on Aku no Hana, and never gave any love to Shingeki no Kyojin -- Attack on Titan -- this season.
Attack on Titan has picked up its pace, after the four episodes of setup, to get to a place where Eren, Armin, and Mikasa are defending and fighting against the titans. At this point I can say I don't care too much about Eren, as character; which is why I wasn't as surprised as most people, when he was assumed to be dead when he was eaten by old man titan right at the end of episode 5.
However, I don't really think he is dead, since that would be a bit weird to have someone, that was presented as the main character -- or at least one of the three main characters -- to end up dead so soon in the series. If he is indeed dead, I would personally be more interested in seeing how Mikasa reacts to the news of Eren's demise.
Since I haven't read the manga, I can only speculate the outcome of Mikasa's reaction, if Eren is actually dead. I have two possibilities, that derive from the fact that Mikasa considers Eren to be family. Because of that fact, the rage that Eren had toward the Titans -- for killing his mother -- will be transferred over to Mikasa. And since we do see signs of Mikasa losing her cool when Eren is in a situation where his safety isn't guaranteed, it might not look so good for her either.
The other possibility I have is, she would just break and give up on life, because she doesn't have much else to live for without Eren. This one feel less likely, because that wouldn't really make much of an interesting story. However, if it does happen -- and it is great -- I like being wrong about these things, because predictability is boring.
Of course these are all just me hypothesizing ideas, that happen to pop in my head. For all we know, Armin might grow a backbone and kill old man titan, to save Eren; or Eren just cuts his way out and ends up being a badass amputee, we will only know in the next episode -- or if you read the manga.
