Kill La Kill

What... the... fuck? I honestly didn't know what to expect from Kill La Kill, but it was honestly the weirdest yet entertaining first episode I've seen going into the new season. The art style is probably the thing that makes it stand out the most of me. Rather than go for a more serious route, for something that is heavily focused on action, it is far more playful. This makes Kill La Kill a more lighthearted and interesting introduction.

Honestly I found myself saying "what the fuck" a majority of the time, and I don't think I ever really get surprised when it comes to anime craziness; however, Kill La Kill still managed to surprise me with the over-the-top scaling of characters when they are being intimidating, or the ridiculous things that characters would say. So I'm just glad to see an anime that is making me feel things I rarely feel, it is a nice change in pace.

As for the story, I wouldn't say it runs that deep so far -- considering this is only the first episode. However, I do think that the fact that this is set in a hierarchical school with basically a king (queen) set around Kiryuin Satsuki, I can say I'm sticking around. There aren't that many school anime that go as far as authoritarian ranking in a school, but with the beast that is Kill La Kill, I like where this is going and is probably going to be one of my favorites this season.
