Freezing Vibration 04: There Will Be Blood (and Tears)
Around the end of the third episode I was beginning to wonder why they didn't show the full mock fight between Satellizer and Gina, but now I know quite clearly why that was the case. Right out the gate, of this episode, we see the change in heart of Gina pretty much thanking Satellizer and Dr. Ohara for helping her grow as Pandora. That was pretty much one big foreshadowing for whats to come later in the episode, and in the future.
Gina was glad to be a part of the E-Pandora project and was finally beginning to understand what the Pandora stand for, but it was steadily ripped right from under her by the fake that is Mark IV. Now, I know that the closeness of building up and shutting down of Gina, from happy to dead, is an easy was to get the viewer to care for a character before they die, but it got me a bit. It sucks that Chevalier is that corrupt, but its all for the good of the story, and there sure is more to come.
During the fight with Nova Gina, I noticed Satellizer's eyes doing the same thing that Gina did, which might also be foreshadowing for later. From the first season, Satellizer went into Nova Mode when fighting the Nova controlled Lockheart Cassie; I wonder if she will ever lose control of herself as more of the military's real motives begin to become more clear. I still like Satellizer and hope to see more of her, just not in an uncontrollable state like Nova Mode.
Now as far as the battle goes, Elizabeth was the one holding back, because Gina was still considered a comrade -- even if Gina was practically taken over by Nova. So this is where one part of my prediction in the last episode was invalidated because everyone is more focused on the actions of Chevalier, rather than the inner Pandora groups. Gina still had some conciousness to tell Amelia that Mark IV was a sham, which is the main reason Amelia begged for them not to kill Gina. But just like Mark IV, her efforts were in vain because Bonaparte Charles was the one to step up and serious fight Gina -- resulting in Gina's death, as mentioned previously.
Knowing that this whole Mark IV thing is basically a ruse to fool the general public, you might think the biggest dissent would comes from E-Pandora, but because of a contract they signed, their rights basically thrown away and Chevalier can force them to comply forcefully. And this is where it comes full circle for the E-Pandora participants; in the desperation to find a better life, they turn to and trusted the military wholeheartedly. This trust made them a part of something worth living for, a goal, but they still had to follow the orders Chevalier had for them. So when they finally poke their ugly head out and reveal that the E-Pandora project is just just humans turned into guinea pigs to keep the military in a good light for the people, the girls has no where to go all over again.
And this is most likely why Elizabeth was the first to step up and try to do something for those girls. She has to use whatever power she can -- which include the influence of the Mably house -- to both rebel against Chevalier and help the remaining girls involved in the E-Pandora project.
I said this last week, and I'm glad it is happening, the Pandora -- or in this case it's just Elizabeth, but Satellizer does want to help -- are going against Chevalier and their mistreatment of the E-Pandora girls. It obviously wont be easy because some of the Pandora will be opposed to such an act of treason -- and the one girl you don't want to mess with is Fairchild Chiffon. It's too bad that Chiffon seems to be on the opposing side in this case, because she is one of my favorite girls, but I now know she would rather live in ignorance than stand for actual justice.
This episode was a far more story heavy one, which offsets the previous one where it was more setup than anything. If the format of Freezing Vibration ends up becoming similar to this, I don't mind it because this makes the pacing feel really nice and easier to digest the plot points. I'm guessing there will be a fight between Elizabeth and Chiffon coming up, so be prepared for blood...
