Probably one of the better works coming out of "2012 Young Animator Training Project", Death Billiards does a fantastic job in its restricted format of one episode.
Just like, Little Witch Academia, the art is fantastic and really complements the intenseness of the anime. However, the thing that sets it apart is, the story actually had some meaning to it, that didn't feel forced. Playing a game of billiard with your life at stakes, really brings out the true nature of someone -- that has some value on their life, doubly so since it is competitive.
Leaving us with a simple psychological test of humans base instincts of surviving, even if they never really know what the end result is going to be. And that is what make it so interesting to me, a concept simple -- yet complex -- was delivered in a short amount of time, and still felt satisfying.
So really you should give this one a watch, and if it is a bonus, I noticed the voice actor plays Kyousuke from OreImo is in it.
