Based on the true events of an earthquake happening in Tokyo, of course there are some exaggerated things, but overall it is something that happened in Japan. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 focuses on three survivors of the earthquake, Onozawa Mirai, Onozawa Yuuki, and Kusakabe Mari; they are trying to make it back to their homes to check on their families. The anime has an overall feeling of a shining beckon of hope, in the chaos that is a natural disaster.
If survival and people working together in a time of crisis, with a good mix of sad and feel good moments, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 might be something that you want to check out.
